A 500 ml bottle is customarily packed 24 to a case at 10 cases per layer and 8 layers — 80 cases, or 1,920 bottles per pallet. A 1 litre bottle drops to 12 per case and 63 cases. A 1.5 litre runs 6 per case and 40 cases. The larger the bottle, the fewer cases a pallet carries and the heavier each one becomes.
Water is the format where weight decides the load. A 20 ft container is limited to 28,200 kg and a 40 ft to 26,600 kg, and a full load of bottled water reaches that ceiling well before it runs out of floor. Planning a water shipment on pallet positions alone overstates what the container can lawfully carry.
That constraint is also the argument for mixing. Pairing dense bottled lines with lighter canned ones brings a container closer to both limits at once, which is the practical reason most export orders are consolidated rather than shipped single-brand.
